21 SL Fishermen Arrested
Twenty one Sri Lankan fishermen have been arrested by the Indian Coast Guard for crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line and poaching in Indian waters. They were sent to Puzhal prison on Friday.
Tamil Nadu Police said on Thursday, during routine surveillance, a coast guard ship found the fishermen near Krishnapattinam, a coastal village in Andhra Pradesh. They were detained along with their four boats and equipment.
On Friday, they were brought to Chennai and handed over
to the Harbour police for further investigations. Later, they were produced before a court in Egmore and sent to Puzhal prison, The Hindu reports.
