2050Half of the country to Have Diabetes
The Ministry of Health today warned that by the year 2050 half the population of the country is at risk of falling victim victims to diabetes.
It said that non-communicable diseases such as diabetes are currently posing a grave threat to the country.
The Ministry stated that between 10%-15% of the country’s students are falling prey to the disease.
Juvenile diabetes, medically referred to as Type 1 diabetes, is a result of genetic manifestation of the disease on the
adult population.It is said that around 650 individuals die each day as a result of non-communicable diseases while another large number of persons suffer from various illnesses.
Taking these conditions into consideration, this year has been named as Non Communicable Disease Prevention Year by the ministry.
