Mahinda Rajapaksa is a ‘Brand’ while Ranil is an ‘Article’confesses a popular businessman at a speech made at Temple Trees

The famous businessman Dilith Jayaweera had quipped that President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a ‘Brand’ while the Leader of the opposition is just an ’Article ‘ He added this at a meeting at ‘Temple Trees’ and went on to add further…

“He commenced his speech by saying he would apply the ‘todays politician and the ‘brands’ as the topic for his speech taking into consideration that a pill of paracetamol is -/22 cents, and if pill of ‘panadol’ of the same dosage is Rs 2/50, we will not mind using ‘panadol’ in the event the paracetamol is not available and I will be taking ‘Cocacola’ as another example’.

I need to know how to what extent and far the ‘Cocacola’ brand and the Mahinda Rajapaksa brand had gone. If we
take a name of an article for instance ‘Cocacola’ it’s packing and its logo. There is a certain image that is etched in our minds. Similarly the Mahinda Rajapaksa brand is also so. If a normal drink is prepared with sugar, water and some colour it will cost only Rs 5/-.But with a packing ,logo  when it is produced to higher standards it will cost Rs 40/-

If we take from a political angle Ranil Wickremasinghe is a former Prime  Minister, a lawyer ,his age is 63’’. ….he went on to add.
