It is learnt the UNP has organised a sudden distribution of buns. It is learnt that the organisers of the protest had expected a crowd of around 25,000 people. But only around a crowd of over 1000 had come for the protest. Hence they had brought 25000 buns and milk
packets to be distributed.
The undertaking to bring 25000 buns and the milk packets had been by the Member of Parliament for Badulla district Harin Fernando, who had brought the stuff prior to the protest.
What the UNP expected to have the protest until late night. For this Ravi Karunanayake had arranged for 25000 packets of dinner which he had luckily cancelled at the last moment.
At the end in consultation with the Ranil Wickramasinghe, they had sold the buns and the milk packets to some dealers at a lower rate ,who are there supporters and who are known to them.The crowd that was shown to be large was because of office workers returning after work to the railway station.Usually at a protest two lanes of the road opposite to the fort railway station gets closed.But yesterday only one traffic lane was closed for traffic.
