The people of Weliveriya protested for requesting pure drinking water. It was with my knowledge the security forces that went to disperse the protesters, was quipped to the ‘Mawbima’ newspaper by the Chief Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena organisation Ven.Galabadaaththe

In this connection the Thera had added that he had seen the shortcomings of the protesters. He had then informed the Defence Ministry in this regard. He had done so avoid a situation that was much tensed. It was he who had requested for reinforcement by the security forces to bring the situation under control.
The thera had reiterated to the defence Ministry official that the people were asking only for drinking water and to resolve their needs. But he regrets to what culminated at the end.
