The General Secretary of the Sinhala Ravaya organisation Ven.Medille Pagnaloaka thera stresses that their organisation have very close links with the Muslim community and hence the need to attack the mosque in Grandpass does not arise and not to have suspicion on this attack .
The general Secretary of the Ravana Balaya Ven Iththtepane Saddhatissa thera quipped that there was involvement in this attack and in the course of their history not a single incident had been reported in them attacking the other religious places of worship
Regarding yesterday’s incident a spokesman for the Muslim Council had stated that there had been speculations that this mosque was to be shifted to another location. Certain groups of the Muslim community had objected to this proposal. This group may have been responsible for this attack the Muslin Council believes.
It is learnt that the matter had prolonged as there is ‘Bo’ tree close to this location. Permission had not been obtained from the authorities to remove the ‘Bo’ tree. But the mosque had been constructed and on the very first day when the prayers were taking place the mosque had been attacked. There had been 12 Police personnel at that place when the attack took place, but they had been helpless.
There is another reason as the mosque is an unauthorised construction and a court order had been issued in this regard. It is the most possible reason and also it is learnt that the mosque had been constructed in between two Buddhist temples.
