No mercy for traffic law breaking SL Police

We have no mercy on you - SL Police

Police Chief N.K. Ilangakone in a directive issued to all senior Police officers, ordered that all Police officers who break traffic law be dealt with prevailing laws.
A senior police officer from the police headquarters said the step had been taken after publication of photographs of offending Police officers in uniform.
“Media reports attached with six photographs were sent to the awareness of the officers along with the order,” he said.
“Engaging in conversations via mobile phones, absence of helmets while driving and overtaking and speeding erratically are the moments captured on those photos,” informed the headquarters.

“And from now on the responsibility is falling on the Superintendents of the Police if another report about is published with photographs,” the directive said.
“If a police vehicle violated the traffic law, the responsibility is in the head officer among them. When incidents like these happen, there will be disciplinary action against the driver as well as the head officer. Police officers should be a role model to the civilians and should follow the law while they drive,” the directive said.
