Sri Lanka thrash Australia in Brisbane
Sri Lanka beat Australia by four wickets in the third one-day international at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane on Friday and take a 2-1 series lead.
Kusal Perera scored an unbeaten 22 to guide the visitors to victory, chasing Australia’s humiliating total of 74 runs.
It was anything but smooth sailing for the tourists in their innings, losing skipper Mahela Jayawardene inside the first
over.
Mitchell Johnson then took three quick wickets to reduce Sri Lanka to 4-37 and give Australia real hope of pulling off a miraculous victory.
But steady batting by Kushal Perera got Sri Lanka home with four wickets - and 30 overs - to spare.
Pacemen Lasith Malinga (3-14) and Nuwan Kulasekera (5-22) were the main destroyers with the ball for Sri Lanka.
