Two suspects have been arrested by customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport while attempting to illegally smuggle several gold biscuits to India.
A total of five gold biscuits weighing over 600 grams and valued at around Rs. 4.5 million were found in the possession of the suspect, arrested last night, airport
customs said.
It is said that the suspects, from Colombo, had attempted to smuggle the gold by concealing them in their shoes.
The gold biscuits have been seized while the suspects have been released on bail.
