The Fort police had arrested two teenagers while they were viewing sexual explicit materials sitting on a bench that was placed at the Fort railway station.
When the suspects were produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, they pleaded guilty for charges and thereby they were ordered to pay a fine of Rs.2500 each. The Magistrate further ordered the police that the mobile phones be handed over to the teenagers
after sexual explicit materials were deleted.
Police told court that mobile phone pornography falls under section 2 of the Obscene Publications Act No 22 of 1983.
