Gotabhaya Rajapaksa Speaks
The 13th Amendment not to be changed owing to Tamil Nadu incidents was reiterated by Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rakapaksa has decided that the devolution of power in the North according to the 13 amendment to the constitution which was under consideration would not be made. This was because of the recent incidents that took place at Tamil Nadu against Sri Lankans.
He also went on to add if in the event if party’s who are to be in charge of the administration of North and East after the completion of the Provincial Council elections are from the opponents of the government, it might create some sort
of chaos situation and bring about a problematic position to the government. He emphasized on this matter giving an interview to an English newspaper.
He went on to add that we have had experienced such situations before. Hence in that context we will not allow outsiders to interfere into the affairs of our country.
