The Member of Parliament Duminda Silva who is a suspect in the Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra murder case, who is presently in the Nawaloka hospital taking further treatment under police guard.
His father A .Wilson Premalal Silva has through a petition had appealed to the Colombo Magistrate courts for him to be given bailThe Attorney General and the Superintendent of the special criminal investigation unit would have to give
evidence to consider the appeal submitted.
It is well known that on the day of the incident Duminda Silva suffered severe head injuries to his head and after an operation in the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital he was flown for further treatment to Singapore. He arrived although not in a stable position to attend to courts on the day of his arrival after he was named as a suspect. It is further mentioned in the petition that he is taking further treatment at the Nawaloka private hospital.In the context of the above it has been requested that he be allowed bail.
