The fake ‘Atapirikara’ contained an old sauce pan covered with soot and some decayed pieces of robesWhat is shown in the above photo is what had been given to Chief Incumbent of the Colombagama Sri Miyugunaramaya Raja Maha Viharaya temple’s Ven.Galhepitiye Premaratna thera and the other monks as the traditional ‘Atapirikara’ at an alms giving ceremony.
Instead of the ‘Alms bowl’ what had been given was a used
water bowl with soot around it. The ‘’ Atapirikara’ had also contained corroded pieces of robes.
It was learnt that there were a number of ‘Atapirikara’ that was offered to other monks. On suspicious other was also opened to see. For his astonishment that 75% contained in that similar manner.
