Anchor powdered milk contains
Dicyandiamide(DCD)
Owing to many requests made by consumers of imported milk food, in order to clear doubts that the several imported kinds of milk powder are said to contain the poisonous substance Dicyandiamide (DCD) technical and research institute in Sri Lanka had carried out elaborate
investigations to find precise information on these allegations.
The information had revealed that four main types of imported milk powder have proved to contain the poisonous substance Dicyandiamide (DCD) which was proved on earlier occasion’s as well. This was confirmed by the responsible officials of the Ministry of technical and research.
It is learnt that this substance was found in Anchor, Anchor 1, Diamond, Maliban non fat milk powders. These investigations had been carried out in these four imported milk powders and two local milk powder samples taken is substantial quantities.
The outcome from the investigations it had revealed that all types of imported milk powders was proved once more to contain the poisonous Dicyandiamide (DCD) substance harmful for human consumption.
It has been found that an agro chemical used by farmers in growing grass for the milking cows contains the poisonous substance Dicyandiamide (DCD).The milking cows consume the grass along with faeces mixed with the grass. It has been proved that the milk powder is not at all suitable for consumption. It has also been disclosed that contents of DCD should be contained in the imported milk powder.
The copy of the reports would be forwarded to the CEO’s of the importing Company’s and the officials of the Sri Lanka customs. The technical and research institute will bring these facts of the investigations to the attention of the officials of the Ministry of Health for necessary action.
On two earlier occasions these investigations were carried out and the most recent investigations have once more proved and reiterated that the poisonous substance Dicyandiamide ( DCD) in contained in the imported milk powders.
