A committee to be appointed to look into a possible Constitutional amendment
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. He added that he would inform the Speaker of the house to take the matter forward.
President said this at a meeting with media heads held last night at Temple Trees. The recent rift between the legislature and judiciary during the impeachment process of the former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake gave rise to many government supporters to
seek a constitutional amendment to prevent such a situation in the future.
