Iran has totally prohibited selling, exhibiting, and importing of Buddha statues in Iran
As the reason for this decision, the Iranian authorities have explained that, this action has been taken due to a report published by a newspaper that, the Buddha statue may influence the promotion of another religion in the country.
However, this action is considered as a serious attack against the religious freedom of the country. They also say that, the people of other religions have the right to worship their own religions, while the Iranians are using these
Buddha statues to decorate their homes.
“No harm will be done by this ban”, they say.
All Buddha statues in Iran have been confiscated. According to the Iranian Constitution, Islam is the main religion, while the other religions are included in the ‘Non Islamic Group’.
