The Chief Magistrate of Anuradhapura, Additional District Judge Ruwandika Marapana ordered the police to immediately arrest and produce before court the suspects in connection to the acid attack on the Ayurveda Commissioner of the North Central Province.
Taking into consideration the case relating to the acid attack, the magistrate further ordered an investigation report on the incident to be submitted in court.
The police notified the courts that several teams have been deployed into the investigations and expressed their belief
that the perpetrators would be arrested soon.
Meanwhile police reported Thursday evening that they have arrested three suspects in connection to the attack.
According to police an ayurveda doctor, a soldier and a fishmonger have been arrested in this regard.
Police went onto say that the attack is a result of a personal dispute between the Ayurveda Commissioner of the North Central province and the arrested Ayurveda doctor.
The Ayurveda doctor in question has planned the attack on the Ayurvedic Commissioner of the North Central province and also given Rs. 75,000 to the soldier who is a resident of Urapola area in Nittambuwa.
The army soldier is currently attached to the Mattakkuliya area.
The North Central Ayurvedic Commissioner Dr. Kumara Alwis experienced an acid attack at dawn on February 22, at his residence in Anuradhapura and suffered severe injuries to his face and chest.
