Mother Throws her Children to a River
Before she Jumped into the River
Following a domestic dispute with her husband, a mother of two attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Meera Odai River after throwing her two children in first. The children drowned while the mother was saved by residents of the area.
The incident took place this morning (May 27) at 10.43am in the Valaichchenai area in Batticaloa.
The mother was rushed to hospital and was later transferred
to the Batticaloa general hospital.
The two girls who fell victim to the incident were aged 7 and 3 years.
