Winning this Sunrisers are 4th in the table
Sunrisers Hyderabad came up with yet another spirited bowling display at home to score a comprehensive 23-run win over Rajasthan Royals in match number 68 of the Indian Premier League.
Chasing 137 for a win, Rajasthan Royals could only manage 113 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs on a conducive bowling wicket at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium.
The result means that Sunrisers Hyderabad have a realistic chance of making the playoffs while curtains came down on Kings XI Punjab’s campaign this season.
Tailender Kevon Cooper (26) top scored for Rajasthan Royals, who never quite got going with the bat after losing
Rahul Dravid (25) and Ajinkya Rahane (12).
Shane Watson could not get a single boundary in his 20-ball 11.
Thisara Perera, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra and Karan Sharma took two wickets each.
Hyderabad, with another game in hand, are now fourth in the points table, ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are fifth with their game to go against Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 136 for the loss of nine wickets.
Right-handed Orissa batsman Biplab Samantray top scored for the hosts with a 46-ball 55. James Faulkner took a second five-wicket haul, en route topping the wickets tally this season.
After winning the toss, the hosts were rattled early at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, losing batting mainstays Shikhar Dhawan, Parthiv Patel and skipper Cameron White cheaply, leaving Hyderabad 8 for 3 inside three overs.
Parthiv (2) got out played on to Faulkner and five balls later, Dhawan (1) slashed to Rahane at point off the same bowler.
White (0) picked out Siddharth Trivedi on the long-leg fence as he hooked a short one from Watson in the third over.
Young Hanuma Vihari looked solid in his 28-ball stay but could not muster more than 19 as he was dismissed by Siddharth Trivedi in the 11th over.
Darren Sammy added enterprising 56 runs for the fifth wicket in just 35 balls before falling to Faulkner in the 17th over.
The last five overs were quite eventful as a total of 46 runs were scored and 5 wickets fell.
