No Free and fair elections since 2005
-Karu
The United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Karu Jayasuriya said today there hadn’t been a free and fair election in the country since 2005.
“It was in 2004 that a free and fair election was held in Sri Lanka under the then UNP Government,” he said.
Mr. Jayasuriya accused the Government of using and misusing public property, vehicles and state employees for elections.
He said he believed the Election Commissioner would carry out his duties without fear or favour and without being
intimidated by political pressure in conducting a free and fair election.
